Masham Church                    Market Square - Masham

Masham, pronounced Massam,  is a small market town, situated at the Eastern end of Wensleydale and borders Nidderdale. It has a good selection of shops, which include antiques, arts and crafts and general provisions.  There is a confectionary shop, that sells every type of sweet, which you may remember from your childhood.  Masham is a real ale drinkers and walkers paradise, boasting two famous breweries, Theakstons and the Black Sheep which have daily tours.  There are lots of interesting beautiful walks through the dales.

Set in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales countryside, Masham cannot be missed, either for a short break or an extended stay, apart from it's obvious attraction, Masham is famous for its Steam  Rally, which is held in the Summer.

There is easy access to nearby Fountains and Jervaulx Abbeys, which are steeped in history, Masham still hosts a market on Wednesday and Saturday, there are plenty of tearooms and pubs which offer you a warm welcome.  There is no warmer welcome offered than that at the Bruce Arms, Little Market Place, Masham.

If you are interested in arts and crafts, there are plenty of galleries, in which to browse and maybe find a special gift, there is a beautiful church, some old Georgian buildings, which are a delight.  Masham also offers a park, with nearby tennis courts, a golf course and the opportunity to go horse riding, for walking enthusiasts, explore the moorlands or stroll by the beautiful river.

The Bruce Arms is  situated to the side of Masham's historic market square,  is a cosy traditional Yorkshire pub offering real ales and a selection of spirits, lagers and wines.

The beer garden has spectacular views over the River Ure and Wensleydale, seating over one hundred people, either in the open or under the new canopy.

Important message to all Publicans/Landlords/Landladies, within the Enterprise Inns Group.

It is time to protest and take action, for far too long, we have been "screwed" regarding the rents which we are charged.  After many negotiations which have come to nothing, I, unilaterally decided to reduce the rent which I pay by 50%, due to the unfair rent and extortinate charges for wets.  This is in line with the Valuation Officers' calculation for fair maintainable trade.

I urge all those who are affected, by these unfair rents to take action NOW, the British Public Houses are dying on their feet, it is time to call a halt to this exploitation.

Axe the Beer Tax - Campaign Update - Monday 9th, March 2009
EVER WONDERED HOW MUCH CASH YOU PAY IN BEER TAX?
Use our brand new BEER TAXOMETER to find out - and then email it on to you friends as a way of building more support for the campaign to Axe the Beer Tax, Save the Pub.
All you have to do is enter the number of pints you drink each week, and the Beer Taxometer calculates how much you are paying each year to the taxman - and how much EXTRA tax you will pay if the Government goes ahead with its plans to increase beer tax further in its Budget on April 22.
If you have a blog, you can embed the Beer Taxometer using the codes available on the Axe the Beer Tax website. For these codes, just click on the link at the bottom of this email.
